John Quincy Adams

Today is 20 October 2008.



I arrived at the library earlier today than other days and found the A volume just where I had left it Saturday, on the table. No one had bothered to put it back on the shelf. No staffer, that is. Today I read up to John Quincy Adams. The Adams clan is very industrious and famous enough to be in the ecyclopedia. Not just John Adams and his son, but his great grandson and his grand son. I was intriqued to learnd that the US approached the Netherlands for money to fund... a war? during John Adams career. Very interesting. Youjust don't think of the US as a needy country.



One of the incompetant men on my floor mentioned to me the credentials of the director of the buidling. He seemed to be impressed. I wasn't I felt like I was being pushed back in time to when I was on rounds answerign questions of an attending physician. I replied something dissembling that conveyed that homelessness and mental illness can happen to anyone. Impressive credentials not with standing.
